• Core disposal: Discard product (including any retaining materials of use), in an environmentally acceptable manner, in full compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Do not open container until ready to use. Do not accept if seal has been broken or tampered with.
• Installation instructions for replaceable filter-drier cores and filter cores with STAS shells.
• To prevent contamination, do not open can until ready to install.
• 1. Pump down the system and the STAS completely. Warning: system lines must be de-pressureized before attempting to service. Failure to do so can result in system damage and serious bodily injury.
• 2. Remove the cover bolts, cover, and cover gasket (discard old gasket).
• 3. Withdraw the internal assembly by pulling on the handle.
• 4. Disassembly the internal assembly by unscrewing the handle while holding the inlet retainer.
• 5. Remove contaminated filter-drier core. For multiple core units, remove coupling(s).
• 6. Clean all internal thoroughly giving particular care and attention to outlet screen.
• 7. Remove the core from can and reassemble as rapidly as possible to minimize moisture contamination.
• 8. Replace the screen in the outlet retainer and install the new core in the outlet retainer. Make certain that the end of the core with the tapered inside diameter is placed against the outlet retainer. With multiple core units, place coupling between each core. Position the inlet retainer over the internal core, and screw the handle firmily in place. Carefully insert the assembly unit into the shell assembly.
• 9. Lightly coat the new cover gasket with refrigerant oil and both surfaces and carefully place in the groove of the cover.
• 10. Push the cover against the shell assembly, Make certain the compression spring is against the inlet retainer, and is not hanging-up on the handle. Install two cover bolts in diagonally opposite holes to hold the cover snugly against the shell edge.
• 11. Install the remaining cover bolts snugly.
• 12. Torque all cover bolts evenly in criss-cross pattern to a torque of 25 ft. lbs. maximum for STAS units. STAS units with the S-V option for suction line service have stainless steel cover bolts, the maximum torque for these bolts is 20 ft. lbs.
• 13. Test for leakage
